Selection Process for Post-degree Dietetic Internship Programs

Dietitians of Canada manages the annual selection process for post-degree internship programs. A computerized database system is used to match student program choices with program rankings.

This is a very competitive program, and a limited number of positions are available. Only about 50 per cent of the candidates who apply are selected each year.

To participate, applicants must

1. prepare and submit an internship package
2. register in the computerized selection program
3. pay the required fee

Timetable

First week October:

• Internship application package is available.

January 4:

• Participants may pay fees and register in the computer program.

February 1:

• Deadline for registration and input of program choices.
• Deadline for applications to be received by Internship Program.

Mid-March:

• Applicants notified of outcome of first-round internship selection.

April/May:

• Second-round - only if positions are left unfilled after first-round.

Fall:

• internships begin.
