Principles & Practice of Interdisciplinary Obesity Management for Dietitians

The 3rd ‘Principles and Practice of Interdisciplinary Obesity Management for Dietitians’ offers an intensive educational experience with a strong emphasis on the practical aspects of obesity management and their use in the day-to-day practice of Canadian dietitians. Our faculty features Canadian leaders in research and dietetic practice in obesity, its management and effects on participation in daily life, appetite regulation in body weight control and motivational enhancement and behaviour modification.

The purpose of this Learning Retreat is to build on dietitians’ knowledge in the areas of:

  • Their role(s) as part of the interdisciplinary obesity management team
  • Practical strategies they can integrate into their day-to-day practice
  • Physiological, psychosocial, public policy and socio-cultural factors behind the current obesity epidemic in Canada
  • Methods of clinical assessment of obesity
  • Current psychological, clinical, community-based and medical interventions for the prevention and treatment of obesity
  • Obesity prevention and management

CO-HOSTS: This retreat is jointly hosted by Dietitians of Canada (DC) and The Canadian Obesity Network (CON-RCO).
