“Weekend Warrior” Nutrition Support Program
April 21-22, 2012, Halifax Infirmary, Royal Bank Theatre, Halifax NS
The “Weekend Warrior” Nutrition Support Program is being presented by the University of Virginia Health System, Dietitians of Canada, and Capital Health and is based on the very successful and popular five-day Nutrition Support Traineeship Program at the University of Virginia Health System. The “Weekend Warrior” program began five years ago as a two-day, weekend alternative to the traineeship, since it is not always possible for clinicians to travel to Virginia for a full week. It has been presented in various parts of the US and Canada.
The goal of the program is to provide as much up-to-date, practical information as possible in the two days. This program will focus on the nutritional management of specific disease states and gastrointestinal disorders including gastroparesis, acute renal failure, pancreatitis, and short bowel syndrome as examples.
The program is being presented by Joe Krenitsky, MS, RD and by Carol Rees Parish, MS, RD, co-developers of this program and Nutrition Support Specialistsat the University of Virginia Health Systems in Charlottesville, Virginia US.
