Make your best food and activity choices with eaTracker

Toronto, ON – August 10, 2011: Dietitians of Canada announces the launch of a new and improved eaTracker, a bilingual on-line tool from dietitians, Canada’s food and nutrition experts. eaTracker helps Canadians track their eating and activity choices, analyze their recipes, plan their meals and set goals for healthy eating and physical activity.

Since 2005, eaTracker has enjoyed a steady following of over 307,000 users on the Dietitians of Canada website, www.dietitians.ca. Over 75,000 of these users have signed up since 2010. “Using their feedback, we’ve updated the tool to help consumers make their best food and activity choices to support their good health,” says Lynn Roblin, Registered Dietitian. “It’s a mine field out there for consumers with so much food and nutrition information; eaTracker provides one-stop shopping for consumers, right from planning their meals to providing feedback on their food and activity choices”, continues Roblin.

So, what’s new and improved? eaTracker users can now

  • do a faster search for their food and activities
  • save their favourite foods and meals
  • analyze, save and compare their recipes
  • post pictures or quotes to keep them motivated and determined to succeed
  • have their Registered Dietitian “coach” them on eaTracker to help them achieve their healthy eating and weight goals
  • track their progress over time
  • access delicious recipes as well as fitness and nutrition tips to help them learn how to eat well and keep active. How cool is all that!

“Today’s families are busy and having access to tools like eaTracker that provide users with additional information to assist them in setting and achieving their healthy eating and physical activity goals can make a huge difference,” said B.C. Minister of Health Michael de Jong. “B.C. is proud to support this program which reflects the goals of our Healthy Families BC strategy by supporting families from across the country in improving their health and helping them make the healthier choice the easier choice.”
