Nutrition and Women’s Health

Lack of time to prepare healthy meals, frequent fast food dining and limited regular physical activity are taking their toll on women’s health and nutritional status. Women have specific nutritional needs and vulnerabilities, and as such are at unique risk for the development of many chronic illnesses such as osteoporosis, type 2 diabetes, heart disease and certain types of cancer. This joint position paper addresses the role of a healthy diet in reducing the risk of these chronic illnesses.
