Pre-budget recommendations submitted to provincial governments in the Atlantic region
DC members in the Atlantic Region submitted pre-budget recommendations to all four Atlantic provincial governments, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador, to help shape their budgets for the 2020-21 fiscal year.
Identifying our advocacy priorities and submitting our recommendations are great ways to ensure that the thoughts and perspectives of dietitians in the Atlantic region are heard by decisions makers to help shape food and nutrition environments in our region.
In Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island the recommendations focused on dietitian services and access to healthy food in home care
and long term care
. In Newfoundland and Labrador, we recommended continued funding support for the Dial-a-Dietitian service. And the priority recommendation for New Brunswick was dietitian staffing for the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development to support healthy food environments for children and youth.
