Isabelle Giroux has been a faculty member of Brescia University College, University of Western Ontario (UWO) since 2000 and is currently an Associate Professor (Division of Food and Nutritional Sciences). A gifted scholar she was awarded numerous scholarships during her studies. Isabelle is a creative and dedicated educator, much respected and admired by her students for her caring nature and the enthusiasm and pride she exhibits in the profession. She has recently received the following awards that attest to her esteem as an educator: Brescia University College Dean's Honor Roll of Teaching (2000-2007) and Brescia's Award for Excellence in Teaching (2004). A respected researcher, she has secured extensive funding from organizations such as the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and Danone Institute. Isabelle is also the author of two books related to clinical nutrition practice.

Actively engaged in professional activities, she is particularly passionate about promoting the role and expanding the number of Francophone dietitians. A leader in the Dietitians of Canada Francophone Network, she has served on the Executive since 2003 and as the Co-Chair (2006-07) and Chair (2007-present). She is also a member of the Dietitians of Canada 2010 Montreal Conference Planning Committee.

"The most rewarding aspect of my job is to teach and share my passion for nutrition to students who are eager to learn, who are full of energy and potential," Isabelle said. "I am happy to have chosen a career in nutrition because it gives me the opportunity to witness the growth of future professionals who will soon contribute to the health of our communities and help the profession grow."
