For the 2016 Manitoba Provincial Election, Dietitians of Canada calls on provincial parties to commit to addressing three key food and nutrition issues for the purpose of effectively meetinghe health care needs of Manitobans, improving health outcomes and achieving long term health system savings. The three election priorities are:
Increase the number of frontline dietitian positions to ensure Manitobans have enhanced access to evidence-based and cost-effective dietetic interventions
Develop, implement and monitor a coordinated food and nutrition strategy
Increase Employment and Income Assistance rates to ensure Manitobans have sufficient income to pay for basic needs including housing, food and utilities
Dietitians of Canada wrote to the leaders of the political parties outlining our election priorities and asking them for a written response to four questions noted in the letter. We included a copy of the ‘Ask Your Candidate’ resource.
