Liberal diets in LTC: The what, where, why & how can this be done by dietitians?

Date and Time
April 27, 1 - 2 pm ET

We have all heard about "liberal diets" for seniors but what does this really mean? How does this show up exactly, and if so, what is then the role of the dietitian? Suzanne will review Best Practices/Research behind liberal diets, and why strict diets don’t work in LTC. She will walk through practical ideas that dietitians should consider when it comes to implementing liberal diets, dealing with family members/medical staff that have different opinions/ideas, and improving the overall dining experience. She will touch on her invention "SuzyQ carts" and how this has helped communities bring choices to residents. Working as a clinical dietitian, Suzanne will share three different real-life liberal diet scenarios that have happened to her in the past year, and how she dealt with it.
