Communicating dietary advice: Why single nutrient messages don’t work
As dietitians, we are faced with the task of translating often very complex science into messages that are consumer-friendly, easy to understand and, hopefully, will result in an intended behaviour change. Yet, too often, simple dietary messages have unintended consequences that result in an unbalanced diet. This presentation highlights the importance of shifting our messaging to dietary advice that focuses on overall nutritional quality rather than single nutrients.
