The role of nutrition in mental health is a hot topic with a steadily growing body of research. One in five Canadians will experience a mental illness, and these conditions are associated with significant risks to physical and nutritional health. Nutrition plays a role in reducing the risk of some types of mental illnesses and helps support the wellbeing of those who live with a serious mental illness. Listeners will develop strategies to address nutrition-related concerns of clients with mental illness, receive a summary of relevant research, and acquire awareness of online resources available to enhance the health of clients living with a mental illness.
