Supporting Dietetics Students in Memory of Beth Armour and Susan Morgan

In June 2020, the profession of dietetics lost a colleague and friend, Beth Armour, who was predeceased in 2005 by her close friend, Susan Morgan. Beth and Susan were peers in practice. and well-respected educators in the dietetics field, and Susan was previously honoured with the Morgan Medal program until 2020.

Beth and Susan met in Montreal while involved with the training of dietetic interns and undertook a Master in Education together at McGill. Their shared passion for education, the dietetic profession, and the support of student learning cemented their enduring friendship.

In memory of Beth Armour and Susan Morgan, a convocation prize is being established by McGill University with support of Beth and Susan’s family, friends, and colleagues. It will be awarded annually by the School of Human Nutrition to a graduating undergraduate or graduate Dietetics student who demonstrates values shown by Beth and Susan – professionalism, leadership, collaborative spirit, creativity, critical thinking, and compassion.

Family and friends have contributed to the endowment to establish the award, but we need your help to reach our goal of $50,000 by April 2023. This will allow us to bestow a student with the first $2000 prize in 2023. You will receive a receipt for your donation from McGill University.

To support a lasting legacy for two women that meant so much to our profession please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to the Armour Morgan Award.
