Standing in Solidarity on Global Humanitarian Issues
Access to safe food and clean water is a fundamental human right and under no circumstance should these necessities be used as weapons in times of conflict.
The International Confederation of Dietetic Associations (ICDA) has released a statement underscoring the importance of protecting access to food and water, and ensuring that health professionals, including dietitians, have the right to safe passage to practice.
As a proud member of the global dietetic community, Dietitians of Canada supports this message. Our position reflects the shared professional ethics and human rights principles that unite dietitians worldwide.
By aligning with ICDA’s statement, we are affirming our commitment to:
-
Stand against the use of food and water as a weapon.
-
Support safe passage for health professionals, including dietitians, to practice.
-
Advocate for equitable access to nutrition and care, even in the most challenging circumstances.
Dietitians of Canada will continue to engage with our international colleagues to amplify the profession’s voice in supporting vulnerable communities and protecting access to basic human needs. Together, we can help ensure that food, water, and health remain cornerstones of dignity and survival everywhere.
