2026 Federal Pre-Budget Recommendations

Dietitians of Canada continues to proudly advocate for the critical role that dietitians play in the health system nationwide and to support sustainable food systems.

The following recommendations were made to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance (FINA) and the Department of Finance in advance of the upcoming 2026 federal budget. 
 

1. Address Recruitment & Retention for Dietitians: Expand the Canada Student Loan Forgiveness program to include Registered Dietitians 

2. Optimize the Integration of Registered Dietitians: Leverage federal spending power to modernize the health workforce in the next bilateral health agreements. 

3. Reduce Food Insecurity: Address Household Food Insecurity through income policy.
