Honouring National Day for Truth and Reconciliation: A Journey of Awareness, Healing, and Action

Dietitians of Canada observes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We stand together with Indigenous Communities, reflect on our collective history, deepen our understanding, and take meaningful action toward reconciliation. 

With empathy and a shared sense of responsibility, let us move forward on this journey of healing and transformation. We invite you to mourn, listen, and learn. Here are some resources for you to review:

  • To support your continued education, DC is offering the following Learning on Demand sessions free to members until October 31, 2024:  
  • The National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation, the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network, CBC/Radio-Canada and the Algonquin Nation have united to produce a 90-minute multilingual commemorative gathering called Remembering the Children: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The public can attend in person on September 30, 2024 at 3:00pm on Parliament Hill on the West Block lawn or join virtually and watch or listen to the broadcast.   • Visit the DC’s Truth and Reconciliation page to access a wealth of resources curated by members, the Board of Directors, the Indigenous Nutrition Knowledge Information Network (INKIN), and other contributors. These materials provide valuable insights into advancing reconciliation, taking action, and creating lasting change.
  • DC Members can join the Indigenous Nutritional Knowledge Information Network, an important community of dietitians working in Indigenous communities, advocacy, and relationship-building.
