Your students can access Dietitians of Canada's Online Courses and Learning on Demand (LOD) webinars at a lower fee with our educator group discount. Fill out the application form and let us know which courses you would like available to your students, either as part of a course or during a practicum. A minimum of five (5) students is required to be eligible for a group course discount.

Online Courses


The following comprehensive courses are available. Click on each course link to find out more details about learning objectives, ICDEP competencies and time commitment.

  • Assessing Needs and Setting Priorities in Population and Public Health: This course focuses on the development of the knowledge and skills required for conducting a community nutrition needs assessment and prioritizing needs.

  • Critical Care Nutrition: An intensive, evidence-based, self-paced learning program that provides practitioners with the latest information on implementing nutrition care in the ICU.

  • Counseling for Behaviour Change: This is an evidence-based, self-paced learning program that provides valuable insights on counselling strategies that support behaviour change. This course is suitable for students and interns.

  • Glycemic Index Education: This course aims to answer commonly asked questions about GI, addressing common GI mythology, highlighting creditable resources, and providing users with examples of nutrition educators applying GI in practical settings.

  • Nutrigenomics: Genetic Testing for Personalized Nutrition: Course content is focused on nutrigenetics and looks at the science, ongoing research, consumer impact, genetic testing, ethics, the role of the dietitian and more.

  • Nutrition Screening: This is an evidence-based, self-paced program that provides an in-depth discussion of what nutrition screening is, sample tools for use in various practice settings, and decision-making frameworks that help you select the right tool for the right situation. 

  • Pediatric Nutrition 101: Topics include breastfeeding, infant formula use, normal pediatric nutrition, nutrition assessment and a review of common pediatric nutrition issues.  This course is suitable for those with minimal pediatric experience, including students and interns.  This course content includes the WHO Growth Charts Training course information. 

  • Renal Nutrition 101: Course content is focused on nutrition therapy for adults with chronic kidney disease.  This course is suitable for those with minimal renal experience, including students and interns.

  • WHO Growth Charts Training: The training program is an evidence-based, self-directed package designed for primary care and public health practitioners.

  • Dysphagia #1 Professional Practice in Dysphagia Management: This program is suitable for dietitians who wants to enhance their current knowledge of provincial requirements related to dysphagia practice including controlled/reserved/restricted acts/activities and standards, and interprofessional practice.

  • Dysphagia #2 Swallow Screen and Assessment: This course describes what is involved in the swallow screen and clinical swallowing assessment process. It provides a framework that will enable practitioners to apply a critical thinking approach to screening adult clients who are having difficulty swallowing.

  • Dysphagia #3 Nutrition Care Process for Dysphagia: This course reviews the nutrition care process (NCP) for adult clients with dysphagia.
