Awards and Recognition

The Dietitians of Canada awards and recognition program celebrates individuals who have inspired, empowered and lent their passion to promote and elevate the dietetics profession. Every year, members recognize each other for their extraordinary achievements in all areas of practice as well as long standing members who have made outstanding contributions to the profession over their career.

See below for past winners recognized for their leadership, professional practice, research, education, entrepreneurship and more. The 2021 winners will be presented with their awards at the virtual National Conference in the spring.

The highest level of recognition bestowed upon a person who is not a dietitian but has advanced the dietetics profession through their work.

Emeritus Membership Award

The highest level of recognition bestowed upon a retired DC member who has made meritorious contributions throughout their career.

Member Recognition Awards - Association Catalyst

Member Recognition Award - Association Catalyst

Recognition of volunteer efforts, professional expertise and achievements that contribute to the advancement of the profession as an association catalyst.

Member Recognition Award - Innovation

Recognition for volunteer efforts, professional expertise and achievements that contribute to the advancement of the profession in the area of innovation.

Member Recognition Award - Leadership

Recognition of volunteer efforts, professional expertise and achievements that contribute to the advancement of the profession in the area of leadership.

DC Fellows

This designation is available to members with outstanding professional growth and contributions through educational and professional enhancement, career achievements, initiative, innovation and leadership in dietetics.

PEN® Achiever Award

Recognizes Canadian members who demonstrate leadership in evidence-based practice through significant or ongoing contributions to the PEN: Practice-based Evidence in Nutrition® system.

Student Awards – Recognizing the future of dietetics

Morgan Award

In honour and memory of the late Susan Morgan, this award recognizes the personal achievement of a practicum student for a research project.

Student Awards

The Student Awards recognize academic excellence. Each award recipient is provided with cash prize and support to attend the DC National Conference.

DC Networks Student Scholarships

The DC Student Network in partnership with other DC networks is pleased to provide student members with the opportunity to experience the National Conference to network with professionals, learn about new research, and to develop your professional toolkit.

International Travel Award for Novice Researchers

This award supports the participation of two novice researchers at the International Congress of Dietetics, which convenes once every four years.
