Exploring Weight Bias and Weight Stigma in Our Cancer Practice
The central measure to reduce the risk of cancer, cancer recurrence, and comorbid conditions is the ‘achievement of a healthy body weight.’ Could the predominant focus on weight as a health outcome precipitate weight bias and weight stigma in the cancer field? Daniela Fierini, oncology RD at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and soon-to-be graduate of the Master of Public Health program at the University of Toronto, will facilitate this critical discussion.
Learning Outcomes:
- Learn about the health implications of weight stigma and explore its impact on people living with cancer or who have experienced cancer.
- Explore tools to help you reflect on your position and practice.
